| In addition to the direct services given to the MPO, Transportation Planning also provides professional and technical services to other departments. Which include the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development (DPD), the City of Memphis and Shelby County, and the other jurisdictions within our study areas in Shelby, Fayette and DeSoto Counties. |
| Funding for this department primarily consists of federal grants administered by the States of Tennessee and Mississippi with less than 20 percent of the total budget from City of Memphis and Shelby County tax dollars. The current staff of 12 assists in maintaining compliance with federal transportation legislation that requires local transportation planning to be comprehensive, continuous and cooperative. |
