| ABOUT DPD iMAP |
| Welcome to the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development (DPD) iMAP, our first online interactive mapping application. DPD has been developing spatial data layers for use in its Geographic Information System (GIS). GIS is a technology that integrates software tools with spatial data, enabling the relationships of mapped features to be analyzed. DPD iMAP is a mapping tool that can provide you with information about zoning, transportation, major roads, schools, political subdivisions, rails, census tracts, bike paths and more. With this unique application, users can find out what is in their backyard; and planners, developers, and builders can identify open space, various regulatory boundaries, sensitive lands, zoning, and much, much more. |
| Although the application is user friendly, you might want to first review the DPD iMAP User Guidance before diving in. Then take it for a test drive and see for yourself how much information you can access. The amount of information available increases as you zoom in closer and closer on a particular area. This information, called “data layers,” can be seen to the right of the map. After you have created your map, you can print it for future reference. |

|
| Using DPD iMAP, users can perform basic street and intersection searches, site queries, view and analyze the results along with selected GIS mapped data layers on a map, and print the map.
